Our founder Shona Baylor is a United States Navy Veteran and ICU critical care nurse with over 14 years of experience in healthcare. Born and raised in the southern hospitality of Louisiana, one could say that Shona was destined to live a life of caring for others.
Relocating to Houston, Texas 10 years ago Shona has exercised her passion for caring for others through a range of ICU settings including Surgical, Medical, Trauma, Neuro, Cardiovascular, and Oncology ICU. Shona also has PACU experience recovering surgical patients directly from the operating room–this exposure gave her a complete understanding of the patient experience and its shortcomings.
Shona founded Esteem Concierge Nursing to provide a superior level of care for her patients and fill in the gaps by advocating for patients, acting as an intermediary between doctors, patients, and their loved ones. As a previous surgical patient herself, Shona can empathize with the mental and physical challenges experienced by patients, giving her the acute emotional intelligence to provide a sense of assurance to her clients.
As a PVAMU Alumni and current graduate student, Shona values continuous self-improvement and lifelong learning. With a reverence for the human experience and meaningful interactions, Shona treats every patient with dignity and respect, providing them with the esteemed level of care they deserve.
